Host Preset Updates

Post by yeahmag » Fri Apr 06, 2012 00:47

Is there anyway in 1.3.0 to add a new service and have it populate to a group of hosts? For example, if I want to add check_load to all of the hosts in apache-servers. Any way to do that logically?

Thanks!

Hi,

Create an advanced service check_load and assign the advanced service to the hostgroup apache-servers.

So, is that a better way of adding and removing checks from hosts vs. using the host presets?

Thanks!!!

I don't use host presets, as the services are then assigned to each host instead of a hostgroup.
So changing settings of a service (e.g. check_load) for a bunch of hosts can be done much easier and faster with advanced services assigned to hostgroups then with host presets.

Thanks. Is it possible within NConf to leverage the Nagios implementation of hostgroup + negate-host. For example: apache-servers !hostA (all hosts in apache-servers group, but not hostA)?
