Nagios Error's an use of nconf

Post by atreide_son » Mon Dec 12, 2011 21:37

Hello All,

I'm completely new to nconf so please bare with me. I have installed nagios/nagios plugins into /opt/nagios; created an nconf database and user and passed all of the checks to start nconf. When I click on the 'Generate nagios config' link in the browser I get a readout of the pre-flight check run by nagios on the nagios.cfg file with several errors. Perhaps I am mistaken, but isn't nconf supposed to generate the nagios.cfg file for me? I think I'm missing the purpose of nconf. Can someone please enlighten me with this and tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Check your configuration file(s) to ensure that they contain valid
directives and data defintions. If you are upgrading from a previous
version of Nagios, you should be aware that some variables/definitions
may have been removed or modified in this version. Make sure to read
the HTML documentation regarding the config files, as well as the
'Whats New' section to find out what has changed.

If you are that new, I would recommend to read our documentation here:
http://www.nconf.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=nconf:help:documentation:start:main

It looks like you have no hosts setup... So please read our information, otherwise it makes no sense why you use NConf :)
NConf is mainly focused to Nagios Admins, but if you really need Nagios (and want to use NConf for configuration generation), you have anyway to read into docs...
