Unable to generate output file

Post by kaplan71 » Wed Jul 04, 2012 00:03

Hello --

I have installed NConf 1.3.0 onto a system running the Icinga 1.6.1 release. I am going through the motions of adding commands to the checkcommands section in the gui. The configuration of the server includes the checkcommands.cfg file, but NOT the misccommands.cfg file. This became an issue when I needed to add the following:

command_name check-host-alive
command_name host-notify-by-email
command_name host-notify-by-epager
command_name notify-by-email
command_name notify-by-epager
These definitions were already present in Misccommands, and they could not be added to the Checkcommands section. The solution that I came up with was to remove the definitions of the commands from the misccomands section of the GUI. This enabled me to add these same commands to the checkcommands section.

The problem that I am having is my being unable to generate the output file. The error message that I am getting is shown below:
[INFO] Starting generate_config script
[INFO] Generating global config files
[INFO] Generating config for Nagios-collector 'Default Nagios'
[ERROR] Failed to get host-alive check for host 'localhost'. Make sure the host is linked with a host-preset. Aborting.
What can I do to correct this problem?

Thanks.

Hi,

why don't you include misccommands.cfg in your icinga.cfg?

Hello --

I went with your suggestion, as well as starting from the beginning with the nconf installation. It appears that will work.

Thanks.
