Re: Unable to successfully add a new host with services

Hi there -- I checked within the NConf gui, and confirmed the gif and gd2 files matched those that have been installed on the server. The location of the image files is the following directory: /usr/local/nagios/share/images/logos Since I am using Nagios as opposed to Incinga, the directory that was...

Re: Unable to successfully add a new host with services

Hi there -- I went ahead with the two steps that I mentioned in my posting, and the addition of the new host, and the restart of the Nagios application were both successful. There is one caveat: The "old method" of configuration had the icons for the hosts that appear on the Nagios pages located in ...

Re: Unable to successfully add a new host with services

Hi there -- I checked the /var/www/nconf/bin directory, and there was no nagios binary at that location. To ensure the correct binary is being used for the checks, I created a symbolic link that points to the /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios file. I ran the check for the old cfg files using the syntax y...

Unable to successfully add a new host with services

Hi there -- I went through the motions of adding a new host. The sequence of that I used was to first create the host. When that was done, I went to an existing host that had the same series of checks that I wanted the new host to have associated with it. Using the advanced option, I cloned two serv...

Re: problem with newly created checkcommand and service

Hi there --

The removal of the line referencing the commands.cfg file from nagios.cfg was the answer. The commands.cfg file is still present in the objects directory.
Should it be removed, or can be retained for historical or legacy purpose?

Thanks.

Re: problem with newly created checkcommand and service

Hi there -- Thanks for your reply. As it turns out, the list of files in the nagios.cfg file does not include a checkcommands.cfg file. However, when I imported the commands.cfg file into the NConf database, they commands did go under the checkcommands heading. As it is, I went ahead and added the c...

problem with newly created checkcommand and service

Hi there -- I am going through the motions of adding a new checkcommand, and service to the Nagios server. The command has been successfully created via the checkcommands menu item. The command involves the check_mssql_health plugin which runs on the Nagios server. The plugin gets in information via...

Re: Generate Nagios config problem

Hi there -- I finally got the Nagios Config to work. I removed the localhost and hpjd entries from the database, and added the 10 value to the max_check_attempts interval. I had some follow-up questions: 1. Should I keep the updated version of the exec_generate_config.php, or should I revert back to...

Re: Generate Nagios config problem

Hi there -- I modified the nconf.php file to run in debug mode, and I also replaced the exec_generate_config.php file with the downloadable version. Once those changes were made, I reran the Nagios Config utility from the GUI. The config failed as expected, and I went to the output directory to inve...

Re: Generate Nagios config problem

I changed the names of the of process-service-perfdata and process-host-perfdata commands in the servicecommands section, and now a new problem has occurred with the Generate Nagios-config utility. The error is shown below: Error: Invalid max_check_attempts value for host '10_emerson' Error: Could n...

Re: Generate Nagios config problem

Hi there -- Thanks for your reply. I did the check of the /var/nconf/temp directory, and moved the .gitinmore file to another location. I reran the Nagios config generator, and the problem continued to occur. I then ran the two commands listed in your post using the following syntax: sudo perl get_i...

Re: Generate Nagios config problem

I tried several other things to correct this problem. These steps included: 1. Copying commands.cfg into a checkcommands.cfg file. 2. Going into the checkcommands.cfg file, and removing all but one instance of process_perf_data.pl from the file. The problem continues to persist. This includes the re...

Re: Generate Nagios config problem

I ended up rebuilding the entire server from scratch due a catastrophic failure of the Nagios application...don't ask. Anyway, I was able to import the configuration files into the database, and I now I am trying to generate the Nagios config via the menu item. The attempt to do was not successful, ...

Re: Accessing the Nagios configuration files

Hi there -- I went ahead with the modification of the NagiosImport.pm file, and with that addition I was able to import the configuration files into the database without issue. The original approach of running the cat command to remove the commented portions of the files I will keep as a backup solu...

Re: Generate Nagios config problem

Hi there -- I ran the ls -la command on the temp directory, and there was the .gitignore file located there. I moved the file to my home directory in case it is needed at a later date. After that, I confirmed there were no files located in the /var/www/nconf/temp folder. I ran the command syntax sho...
