Re: Nconf and remote monitoring

nrpe is indeed the way to do this. You have two options there: hardcode the thresholds in the nrpe.conf or adapt nrpe to accept parameters and configure the thresholds in icinga/nagios. The latter option is the more convenient one and much easier to maintain. From the nconf side it does not make muc...

config rollbacks

The possibility to rollback config changes - at least as long as they are not yet rolled out would be nice.
Example: you delete the wrong host and want to roll that change back. (or is this feature already in place and I totally missed it?)

Re: deployment with many NagiosConfig.tgz created

Could it be that you create the files with a wrong permission and nconf is unable to delete them?

Re: Deploy only to hosts with changed config

What I notice is, that if I reload ( Icinga 1.6.5, SLES11SP2 ) check results no longer arrive in the mysql database, but no errors are to be found anywhere. If I restart it works just fine

Re: Deploy only to hosts with changed config

Thanks a lot. I will need to work out a solution for the naming though. We have no consistent naming scheme for the hosts, as they are depending on the wishes of different customers. Another Point is the reload. For a reason unknown to me, reload does not seem to work properly with nagios/icinga wit...

Re: Deploy only to hosts with changed config

Hi Rene!
This would be very helpful indeed. Could you either attach it to this thread or mail to robert.koeppl@knapp.com please.
Thanks a lot in advance

Deploy only to hosts with changed config

Is there a way to deploy only to those hosts where a configuration change has happened? If not is there a plan to implement that feature? This would come in quite handy in an environment with many collectors.

Re: NRPE remote config

I understand your point. Would you be ok with posting a php-module that offers that functionality here (in case i can get the resources for that from my employer and am allowed to release it)? My goal is to be able to roll out all monitoring related configs with one tool. nconf is pretty close to th...

Re: NRPE remote config

Thinking it through a bit further I assume one of the reasons why the NRPE-config is currently not created is the high probabillity that it could not be rolled out directly in a distributed environment. one option might be to create a tarball that holds the NRPE-config for all clients monitored by a...

Re: NRPE remote config

Hi!
So far no config management system is in place here, as usually almost no config changes are needed after our systems are deployed. nagios/Icinga is more or less the only exception.

Re: NRPE remote config

Will an option to generate NRPE-Configs as well be added in the future? It would greatly increase the benefit of nconf.

Re: Setting Up distributed environments

It seems I got a solution now - allthough a bit complex. I have created a local clone of my icings installation and renamed the startscript, folder and binary accordingly. This copy does the active checking that has to be done form the local installation. it submits its checks via nsca to the main i...

could you post your mysql.php?
Also: it is not wise to use the root account of the DB for anything but administrative tasks - like with the operationg system root user - just my 5 cent
