Hello --
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I cannot devote any more time to this project due to other more pressing issues. As such, I am going to have end my efforts here, and remove nconf from our server.
I hope to be able to revisit this at a later date.

Experimenting with importing the sql file into the database
Hello -- I am experimenting with the following procedure for upgrading NConf from the 1.2.6 to the 1.3.0 release. What I have done is completed a dump of the existing 1.2.6 database into a sql file. This file has been copied to another server running the 1.3.0 version. The sql file has been successf...

Re: Problem with contactgroup
Hello -- I removed the '-' from the ntadmins and linuxadmins groups. Once they were removed, I made the appropriate changes to the hosts configurations, and I was able to generate the output file. I unzipped the contents of the file and inspected the hosts.cfg file. The newly named contact groups we...

Problem with contactgroup
Hello -- We are running Icinga 1.6.1 on our server. The configuration files are those from a Nagios 3.3.1 server, and they have been successfully incorporated into the new system. Among the configuration files is the contactgroups.cfg file. An excerpt of the file is shown below: # 'nt-admins' contac...

Re: Unable to generate output file
Hello --
I went with your suggestion, as well as starting from the beginning with the nconf installation. It appears that will work.
Thanks.

Unable to generate output file
Hello -- I have installed NConf 1.3.0 onto a system running the Icinga 1.6.1 release. I am going through the motions of adding commands to the checkcommands section in the gui. The configuration of the server includes the checkcommands.cfg file, but NOT the misccommands.cfg file. This became an issu...

Re: Problem importing existing Nagios/Icinga files
I have a follow-up to this posting. I started the installation procedure over by removing the existing nconf directory and database. I then went through the motions of installing the 1.2.6 release, and then upgrading nconf to the 1.3.0 distribution. Both the initial install and upgrade were complete...

Problem importing existing Nagios/Icinga files
Hello -- I am trying to import the existing configuration files on an Icinga 1.7 server into the nconf database. To that end I am using the add_items_from_nagios.pl script. As part of the import process, I am running the script with the -s option to preview the results. As an added measure, I piped ...

Re: Error accessing or executing Nagios / Icinga binary
Hello -- The nconf Nagios Generate Config problem from yesterday was solved in the following manner: The apache user account on the new server was configured with the /sbin/nologin shell. When compared to that on the original server, it was discovered a similar account on the old server had the /bin...

Re: Configuration for Icinga 1.7
Hello -- I went through the motions of modifying the Local section of the deployment.ini file. Here is the syntax that was used: ;; LOCAL deployment ;; ;[extract config] ;type = local ;source_file = "/var/www/nconf/output/NagiosConfig.tgz" ;target_file = "/usr/local/icinga/etc/Default_collector/" ;a...

Configuration for Icinga 1.7
Hello -- I have completed the installation of the Icinga and Icinga-web 1.7, and NConf 1.3.0 applications. The server is designated to replace an existing Nagios 3.3.1 system, and to that end one of the goals here is to successfully migrate the configuration files and databases from the old to the n...

Re: Nconf 1.3 and Icinga 1.7
Hello --
Thank-you for your reply. That's good to know the configuration is the same. I'll proceed with the installation, and hopefully it will be uneventful.
Cheers,
Andy

Nconf 1.3 and Icinga 1.7
Hello -- I am planning on migrating from a Nagios 3.3.1 to Icinga 1.7 installation. The process will include building a new system that is a replica of the current Nagios server, and doing the appropriate procedure to convert it into the latter. To that end, I plan on also doing a scratch installati...

Several Questions concerning upgrading to the 1.3 release
Hi there -- I was planning on installing the 1.3 release of NConf in place of the current 1.2.6 distribution, but prior to doing so, I had some preliminary questions: 1. If I decide to upgrade the existing directory, is the upgrade procedure designed to facilitate the process, or should I consider i...
